Katsina Police Arrest 144 Suspects, Rescue 105 Kidnapped Victims in February

Katsina, Nigeria – The Katsina State Police Command has announced significant achievements in its fight against crime, with the arrest of 144 suspects linked to major criminal activities, including armed robbery, kidnapping, and homicide, in February 2025.

Speaking at a press conference, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who represented the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, highlighted the command’s success in combating insecurity across the state.

During the period under review, police operations led to the arrest of 16 suspects for culpable homicide, 7 for armed robbery, 1 alleged bandit informant, 49 for rape, and 47 others for various offenses.

In addition, law enforcement officers neutralized four suspected armed bandits, rescued 105 kidnapped victims, and recovered 13 suspected rustled animals. Exhibits recovered during these operations include:

  • Four (4) locally made guns
  • Thirteen (13) pump-action cartridges
  • Five (5) motorcycles

DSP Aliyu commended the dedication and hard work of officers and men of the command, emphasizing that their commitment has been instrumental in ensuring a safer Katsina State.

He also expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Katsina State Government under Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, and members of the press for their support and collaboration in tackling crime.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the community and relevant stakeholders to sustain and enhance security efforts across the state.
